Pour cette exposition hivernale, la Fondation Blachère propose un nouveau voyage à Ngaparou, village de la côte sénégalaise où, depuis 5 ans maintenant, sont accueillis des artistes en résidence de création.
Entre fin 2017 et début 2020, ce sont 10 artistes qui sont ainsi venus séjourner et créer de nouvelles œuvres dans le petit hameau de La Somone, parfois en collaboration avec de grandes institutions pour des projets spéciaux, comme les Manufactures Sénégalaises des Arts Décoratifs de Thiès, débouchant sur la réalisation de deux grandes tapisseries.
Les résidences à Ngaparou sont, la plupart du temps, libres, sans forcément de thématique imposée… Quelques jours hors du temps pour les artistes, confirmés ou en devenir, pendant lesquels ils laissent libre cours à leur créativité.
Peinture, sculpture, dessin, installation, tapisserie, artistes de différents pays et différentes cultures, la diversité est donc une nouvelle fois au rendez-vous.
Une place d’honneur est accordée dans l’exposition à l’artiste camerounais Joseph Francis Sumegne, grand ami de la Fondation depuis ses débuts, venu en résidence à Joucas dès 2004 où il réalisa la Madone qui trône toujours à l’entrée de notre jardin, et à Ngaparou en 2017 pour la réalisation de Manipulation, une immense sculpture dans sa technique habituelle des matériaux de récupération.

For this new winter exhibition, the Fondation Blachère proposes a new trip to Ngaparou, a village on the Senegalese coast where, for 5 years now, artists have been welcomed in creative residency.
Between the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2020, 10 artists came to stay and create new works in the little hamlet of La Somone, sometimes in collaboration with major institutions for special projects, such as the Senegalese Manufactures of Decorative Arts based in Thiès, leading to the realization of two large tapestries.
The residencies in Ngaparou are, most of the times, free, without necessarily any imposed theme… A few days out of the time for artists, confirmed or in the making, during which they give free rein to their creativity.
Painting, sculpture, drawing, installation, tapestry, artists from different countries and different cultures, diversity is once again at the rendezvous.
A place of honor is given in the exhibition to the Cameroonian artist Joseph Francis Sumegne, a great friend of the Foundation since its beginnings, who came in residence in Joucas in 2004 where he produced the Madonna which still stands at the entrance of our garden, and in Ngaparou in 2017 for the realization of Manipulation a huge sculpture in his usual technique of recycled materials.
